Minecraft: Vibed Edition
A 90% AI generated early Minecraft clone built in Rust.
About This Project
Minecraft: Vibed edition is an experiment where I used Claude to AI generate from scratch a Minecraft clone in Rust. I chose Rust for two reasons: first, I'm trying to learn Rust, and second, it's a fast language, which makes great performance and world generation speed. As of the writing of this, I have been working on this project for 4 days and already have world generation, basic creative and spectator modes, 9 different blocks, not including air, world save files, a pause menu, and a main menu. While 99% of the code is AI generated, the block textures are 100% man-made. I created 8x8 block textures to make it easier and faster to draw textures, and I'm surprised how good they look. While this project started out easy, as the codebase grew larger and larger, getting Claude to understand the full context and provide large scale refactors became more and more difficult, sometimes requiring a dozen prompts to get something right, while it would only take 1-2 prompts on day 1. For more details, read the README.md on the GitHub repository. It outlines the progress made each day.
